The birth, the baby, the dogs, the going back to work -- it's all going to be fine. Worry away (I did, to pass the time), but know this: it's all worth it. All of it. Probably even the 14-year-old kid drama, though as the mother of a 7-month-old I can't confirm that part.

And because I've not said it before -- I love your baby's name. It's our next baby's name, should we be so lucky and should we have a girl. :)

Best wishes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2570553510339407807.post-37733774101899885842009-01-01T22:55:00.000-08:002009-01-01T22:55:00.000-08:00You're due today, and I'm just wondering how thing...You're due today, and I'm just wondering how things are going! I didn't care much for my mom back then and now she is one of my best friends.
As for the tearing, it does heal. I had a 3rd degree tear, and the pain combined with the first week home, the baby staying up all night and sleeping all day (meaning I had to sit on my bruised rump for 4-6 hours at night), and my utter insecurity at not being a good mommy really made me feel like I was going to die. But each day got a little better than the last, and now I have a beautiful 6-month-old daughter who spends her days laughing and smiling at me.
You won't want to go back to work, but when/if you do, every day will be a little easier and you will learn to cherish every second you have with Lucy.
I can't wait until you get to experience all of that too! I will be checking your blog with great anticipation!!Nutzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07473287609304808265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2570553510339407807.post-35735643571296225232008-12-30T12:02:00.000-08:002008-12-30T12:02:00.000-08:00God I remember "the wait" at the end and it is pur...God I remember "the wait" at the end and it is pure torture! And all of your worries,...Her room is adorable Bev! And all of your worries, totally normal of course. It's the unpredictable! And everyone has their own labor story, soon you'll have yours!

I was really worried my dog would not only hate us, but come to resent Miss Amelia because of all the attention she got. My husband got a book on babies and dogs (to distract him from all of my baby talk?) They recommended wrapping baby (Lucy) in a blanket, and taking it home and introducing it to the doggy before baby comes home. That way doggy isn't shocked by her scent when she comes home. I have a 3 year old German Shepard, and he loves Miss Amelia so much and comes and whines to us when she's crying on the monitor.

Kacie said all of it best. The epi will take (and let me tell you, is a God send), tears heal and they make stiches for a reason, breastfeeding will work and if it doesn't, she'll thrive. (My milk never came in so I never got to breastfeed. Amelia is over 55% in weight and smart as a button!) Can't wait to hear your birth story! It's been fun to reconnect with you again! Def. different from our Z100 days!Miss Amelia Jane.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10373497011737640507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2570553510339407807.post-65059925810491943072008-12-29T20:09:00.000-08:002008-12-29T20:09:00.000-08:00awww her room is so pretty. The funny thing about...I had the same worries too. The funny thing about 9 months of pregnancy is worry. Once you have a baby, it doesn't go away, it just morphs itself into other worries like; is the baby getting enough food, is he/she warm enough, is he/she hitting the normal milestones etc... I can only say that when you worry, you know that you will be a good mom because you obviously care. As far as breastfeeding may I recommend a couple of readings? "The Nursing Mother's Companion" by Kathleen Higgins and for fun "So That's What They're For" (the author's name escapes me). The last of the two was really funny. My advice: every day in the hospital take advantage of the Lactation nurses, they helped to ground me when I felt like I couldn't do it. Good luck for a healthy delivery and congrats!
