Pepto Bismal and Lady Lump...

I'm so sorry for the lack of updates, its just every time I come home from staring at the computer all day long at work the LAST thing I want to do is get back on, and the FIRST thing I want to do is go to bed. This pregnancy stuff is rough, I'm not kidding. I would feel like this the entire 9 months, hell I'd feel like this even longer, if that meant we get our baby, its just not exactly smooth sailing at the moment.

For one, my stomach hates me, with the passion of a thousand burning suns, I kid you not. I am a walking Pepto Bismal commercial, you know the one that goes: "Nausea. Heartburn. Indigestion. Upset Stomach...." well, you know the rest. Pregnancy has wreaked havoc on my poor digestive system. For the first few weeks I would eat anything in sight. Now? Not so much. Two of my favorite weekly meals, Friday Costa Vida with the work girls and Saturday Farmer's Market Bratwurst I can hardly bear to smell or even think about let alone eat. I just feel sick, sick, sick. But I will accept it GLADLY. No, not even gladly...HAPPILY. I more than happily accept these feelings, but I'm not going to lie, its a little rough (but secretly I love it because it just cements the fact that, and I don't know if you heard this, but I'M PREGNANT! And yes, it is still THAT EXCITING to type those words).

Our next ultrasound is next Monday. I feel like this is a big one for us because although I know you're never 100% in the clear, after hearing the heartbeat again at 10 weeks I think we're fairly good to go! That is also when I'm letting my poor mother, who is practically bursting at the seams from not being able to tell our family, friends and anyone who will listen to her. She actually helps this feeling by telling random people, like store clerks and tellers at the bank so she can at least get it off her chest a bit. Hilarious!

Tomorrow I go shopping with my best friend Lindsay to attempt to find some clothes. Absolutely nothing fits me anymore. Which would be fine if I had a cute baby bump, but all I have is a big lumpy, squishy thing around my middle. Lovely! Weirdly enough I haven't gained a pound but I haven't been able to fit into my normal clothes since Week 6. I am THAT bloated. It is ridiculous! So we're on a mission to up my self esteem a bit so I can stop with the rubber bands around the jeans button and the pulling down the shirts to hide said button. All it does is stretch out my shirts that already don't fit my spare tire/muffin top middle. Come on bump not lumps!

I'm sorry for not updating more. The tiredness is lessening a little bit so I will try and keep up the posting once or twice a week, if not for you all our there then at least for me so I can have a record of this fun time!

Lastly, my food craving for last time was Grilled Cheese with tomatoes! YUM! I'm fact, that is sounding damn good for dinner tonight... Oh Rob honey, put on the panini press for lil ole pregnant me.

Expect a new belly pic after the U/S next week, you know you want to see my lump!
"What you gon’ do with all that junk? All that junk inside your trunk? I’m a get, get, get, get, you drunk, Get you love drunk off my hump. My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps."

Check out the Bella Band! Great for when you are in between your regular jeans/pants and maternity stuff. Also nice to have after the baby comes and you aren't back into your regular clothes yet.

You hang in there - It does get much better (until the third trimester happens)

I just get nervous when you don't update in awhile.

Yay! Thanks for the update. :) The morning sickness stuff (why do they call it "morning" sickness when for some it lasts all day long??) doesn't sound like much fun, but I am loving your positive attitude. Can't wait to see U/S pics and more of the bump!

Hugs from SC :)

You may not be thinking of maternity clothes quite yet (esp with all the non-preggo fashions these days that totally accomodate the growing bump), but here's some completely unsolicited advice. =P I just got back into my regular jeans, about 3.5 months after delivering. Before then I was wearing my maternity jeans everday, b/c my shape seemed to be changing so fast that as soon as I bought jeans that fit me they started seeming loose right away. It was crazy. So, thinking ahead and realizing that you may be wearing them well past that 9-month mark, don't feel guilty about splurging on some great maternity pants even this early on. Especially if you get some with below-the-belly panels (I know not everyone likes these, but honestly they were the only kind I liked-- I wound up hating anything that went over the belly even a little), they'll fit now to make you much more comfy and will still work well once the bulk of that baby belly is gone (or working on going away).

Have fun! =)

Awww, I can't wait to see your pics! I keep looking at your ticker & thinking how it's already flying by! Almost 9 weeks! WOW!
The first thing I saw was the Pepto Bismol...and I was thinking "I hope you're not taking it," but then I read on & breathed a sigh of relief, as it is a no-no for pregnant women...
I was so excited to go shopping (I went around the same time as you did)! Not to spend the money, but to be able to breathe & not having line from my clothes digging into me!
Have a great time shopping & can't wait for your next update!

Two comments for you:

1) It gets better! I felt pretty craptastic throughout my first tri too. My about 13-15 weeks, I was getting better and my 16-17, totally cool. I'm now 22 weeks and I'm almost always just fine. The only problem I have is getting too full. That really bites.

2) Your squishy bloated tummy will eventually pop out. I also was so disappointed in how strange I was looking. Just fat/pudgy! But by week 17-18, it really started to round into a pregnancy belly and now it's nice and round and perfect.

Yay!

I'm so happy for you!

I haven't before posted a comment to your blog, but I have to this time to say that my only pregnancy craving in the beginning was grilled cheese with a tomato. Yum.

Great to hear from you! I have had the same cravings, and also just cravings for tomatoes with salt and olive oil. But earlier (around 6 weeks) the acid in the tomatoes made me sick. Go figure! I'll be thinking about you on Monday! Those symptoms sound so reassuring!

Oh Bev....meeeeeeeee tooooooo!!!!!! I find myself going to sleep right when I get home from work most of the time. My constant nausea has gotten worse @ night now....NOTHING seems to be helping! From Sea Bands to sucking on hard candy, keeping my stomach full, etc....nothing!!!! They say it gets better....I sure hope so! Our baby measured a few days ahead of schedule at our u/s last week so I'm now due Jan 1st! Our next u/s is June 18th, exciting! Same with me, I LOVE my baby, but ohhhh my gosh, pregnancy is not fun! I've had two days of throwing up, but mostly just nausea 24/7. ::::sigh:::: hang in there! I'm sorry you feel so icky, but I'm glad that someone knows how I feel right now! :-) I also have the huge fat mess around my stomach, I can no longer suck it in....must wear baggy shirts, must buy new clothes! (thank goodness we're telling people in about 2-3 weeks, I can't make anymore excuses @ work!)

I just wanted to pop over & say congrats! I was lurking around BOTB & saw a post that you had gotten your BFP & I remembered your S/N (& adorable bunnies in your siggie) from awhile ago.

I think it's so fantastic that you are having a baby, and the morning sickness will subside. I will be praying that you have a very H&H 9 months and a healthy baby!

Stopping in for a 1st time. I'm about right on track with you in my 1st pgcy, too! Understand the yucky stuff part of pgcy. It is getting better finally at 10 weeks. Just think you are almost at the 1st trimester mark. Yay!
Heartbeats and U/S's are my fave!!! I just graduated today to my regular midwife. PS: Lucy is our girl name, too!
