Jinxed!...

What a night! I must have jinxed myself by bragging about Lucy's sleeping abilities because last night she screamed for an hour while fighting the sleep (all through 24 I might add) and then proceeded to wake up SIX TIMES in the middle of the night! W.T.H? She hasn't done this since she was a newborn. Crazy!

Then, this morning, she woke up perfectly happy....perfectly happy to explosive poop on me, while spitting up down my cleavage and then proceeding to put her tiny hand in the spit up and promptly stick said hand into my mouth before I could dodge it. What can I say? Apparently being up six times in the middle of the night doesn't exactly leave you with cat-like reflexes. I'm not lying, this totally happened. It was like a scene you'd see in a sitcom about having a baby. Lucy thought it was hilarious too!

That being said, I'm still having a blast, even in spite of poopy shirt and spit up in my mouth. I can honestly say I would take that over having to go to work any day!

Coming up on my blog this week: Comparisons of pre- and post- baby body (complete with pictures, and I have to warm you, I'm not going to suck it in), Q&A post (keep the questions coming if you have some), my crunchy mama transformation and of course more pics of the tiny pig!

aww man. I love the honesty of your blog. As much as I want an adorable child of my own the birth process and after events scare me. Still I want to know the truth, most sugar-coat it. Thanks for everything!

My daughter is the SAME way...every time I brag about how well she sleeps through the night, she wakes up that very night!! I've since learned to never talk about her sleeping habits! haha

I have been reading/lurking on your blog for awhile now (reading back from the beginning) and love it. I'm so glad you have more time now and post more frequently. I hope you keep posting a lot!

I'm thinking about switching to cloth diapering too. Can you share how Rob installed the sprayer on the guest toilet?

Ha, I have to say I was laughing while reading that. But only because it has happened to me, it happens to the best of us, right?

I have a question for you: I know when you were trying to get pregnant you didn't tell your mom what you were going through, have you told her now? It took me and my DH a while to get pregnant and my mom was shocked we had been trying for so long(I know it was not as long as others).

And I have to say you have opened my eyes to cloth diapering. Not sure if I want to start, but you have opened my eyes!

Every single time I rave about my son's sleep I jinx myself. He's 3 and a half months & has started waking more than 4 times a night again. I talked with our pediatrician today and she said that this is around the time when they start having more sleep cycles so they wake more often if they don't know how to put themselves back to sleep. Hope Lucy has a better night tonight!

First, thank you so much for all you share on your blog. I don't have children yet, but someday I hope to, and it is so fun to read about your experiences. I've missed your posts since you've slowed down, but I don't blame you at all for spending time with your baby instead of the internet. When you're here though, I'm love reading what you have to share.

Second, I have a question for your Q&A. I know there is no "right" answer, but I'm curious to know what you think is a good age to have a baby? I'm 24 now, and I don't think I'm ready yet, but I feel very close. I think my husband and I want to save a bit more money and enjoy a year or two more of "time alone" to travel and work on our home and just be free. I noticed your journey began in 2004 (about 5 years ago) and your profile says you are 28 now. So it seems you were around 23 when you and your husband started trying. What made you feel ready for a baby? How did you prepare financially, or emotionally as a couple? Also, because it didn't work out for you until you were 28, do you look back at all and realize that maybe you wouldn't have been ready when you were younger?

I'm so sorry that was so long. I don't mean to be too personal or to offend you or bring up sad emotions about your journey. I just wonder how your view may have changed over the years of waiting you endured.

Lucy is too cute! Her name is actually at the top of our list if we ever have a little girl!

Now for some random questions -
what is your mommy-mobile?
any plans for future kiddos?

Emilia has done that a few times to me recently and it's really thrown me for a loop. Sleeps 12 hours one night and then is up every 2 hours the next night. It sucks...but it keeps me on my toes!

How funny I was just bragging about Ian had been sleeping through the night for a while and last night he woke up, but only once I wasn't as unlucky as you.

Bummer! I hope tonight is a better night for little Lucy. I have a knack for jinxing myself, too, when I brag about Zoe. It's as if our little one's know, huh? LOL.

I agree to check for teeth. DD was an awesome sleeper, but occasionally has those nights (she's 2 now and we just had one last week).
Totally cracked up over the spit up. I'll never forget rushing home from work to get DH & DD in order to meet the ILs for dinner. DD was in bed and shortly after I got there started screaming/crying; I rushed in to grab her only to find that she had obviously spit up and was COVERED in it, we're talking getting in the eyes covered. DH was a gagging mess as I washed her off in the sink. Mommy memories are not always grand; but at least we are able to have them!

isn't it funny how they know when mama has been bragging on them so they decide to change things up?!

i second the previous comment: check for teeth! my chloe was born a few days after lucy (1/7) so they are pretty much the same age. i think we are experiencing the beginning of teething so maybe that explains the night waking...?? all babies are different, though, so you never know! maybe she just wanted to be a stinker. :)
