Wishful Things and Other Odds and Ends...

So I found these homemade beanbags today on IS*LY, here. Aren't they so, so pretty that you just want to eat them up?

I felt that I just HAD to blog about it. I absolutely love the idea of making these for Lucy and I feel like if I blog about these delicious little things this post may serve as a reminder for me to go out, get some fabric and do this when I get a spare minute. I even have a sewing machine that is just begging me to break it out of its confines in the closet and learn how to use it. My mom gave it to me for my birthday last year. My birthday is in November (yes, as in I received it LAST November) and look where we are now, almost an entire year later, and I haven't use it once. What a shame. You'd think I was busy or something... I am, however, absolutely determined to go and take some sewing classes at this amazing little fabric boutique in downtown Portland. It's called Bolt Fabric Boutique and they offer amazing sewing classes every month. I desperately want to take a class, for example check out their Small Quilt class on their blog. How fun for me to make for Lucy, right? Someday I will make a big gorgeous quilt for our bedroom...and one for Lucy's room...and one for baby #2 and #3...hell, everyone will have amazing quilts made by ME. Just you wait and see.

You're probably thinking, why didn't she sew anything on her 3 month maternity leave? Yes, I too I had the crazy idea that I was going to have all this time on maternity leave to learn how to sew, to repaint my kitchen cabinets, to get my garden ready for the summer, shampoo my carpet, repaint a room or two...and that was just the beginning, I mean I was going to have THREE WHOLE MONTHS OFF. I haven't had that much time off since I was in high school and it was summertime (those three months usually were spent driving around with the windows down and getting a tan, hard times). Do you know how many of those things I did whilst out on maternity leave? Take a wild guess.

You guessed it! Zero. Zip. Zilch. Hmmm...I wonder why? Maybe, I was too damn busy looking in awe at this:

Can you believe it was only 9 short months ago that she was so small? I just cannot wrap my head around it. How amazing, heartbreaking, incredible and wonderful all at the same time.
