Hystosalpinogram Day...

So I had worked myself into a complete panic this morning about my HSG. I've heard so many horrible stories about it, and even my doctor warned me about painful they can be. Really, when you think about it, having a catheter shoved into your cervix and then having liquid forced to go north in an area where things usually go south is not meant to be a walk in the park. So I was totally terrified by the time I got into the room with the doctor.

10 minutes later...

RELIEF! It did not hurt a bit. NOT ONE BIT! I didn't even have a cramp. I've had paps that were worse than this, like the last one with the OB/GYN intern was way worse that this. In fact, the worst part when the doctor put in the speculum, which is always uncomfortable. What was even more of a relief was that everything was clear! The dye went through my uterus and tubes and spilled right out like it was supposed to. The doctor said my tubes looked beautiful, BEAUTIFUL! :: blushing :: I feel so lucky because I know that a lot of girls have had a horrendous experience with this and mine was seriously a picnic in comparison.

So I may not have any answers as to why we're not getting pregnant but at least I can check off the list as I get these tests done. Ovulation, check. Thyroid, check. Progesterone, check. Semen Anaysis, check. Ultrasound, check. And now...HSG, check!

So we're back to the business of babymaking. Apparently the 3 months following an HSG you are parituclarly fertile, so here we go!

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!

I'm so glad it went so well today! And I too heard that many women have gotten pregnant in the months after a HSG!

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts!

I know little about infertility, and I've been following your story. You have crossed off all of these potential causes - YAY by the way - can I ask what is next?

I love your blog. I can truly feel your emotions in your writing. I'm happy that your HSG went well. Continued best wishes to you and your hubby.

Anonymous, that is a great question! I'm wondering that myself. I think my doctor was thinking something was going to show up on my HSG, so the next step would have been a LAP. But since everything is all clear I think she's just going to have is try for three more months and then refer us to a reproductive endocronologist. Which will mean a whole new set of tests and probably another SA for Rob.

Glad that your HSG went well. I was thinking of you this week. I had one on Wednesday. I have to say that mine was a bit painful but it was over quickly and all was clear. We too are hoping to take advantage of these next three months. Good luck! ;)

I totally believe they are 1 month after my friend had her she was pregnant and they had been trying almost 2 1/2 years. So good luck with the baby making stuff the next 3months. CKM2

I'm glad your HSG wasn't painful. I had one done about 3 weeks ago, and I had myself all worked up about it too because of all the horror stories! I had only slight cramping (nothing in comparison to my normal cramping) and it was all over in 5 minutes!

I've also heard that the 3 months after an HSG you are particularly more like to get pregnant. Here's hoping!

Looks like were in the same boat...I just had my HSG last week. It was clear, just like yours, as were all of my other tests. I was happy it turned out ok, but I was also frustrated because I feel like I'm not getting any answers! Good luck to you and I both for these next 3 "extra" fertile cycles!!! =)

Good luck, girlie! My MIL got pg w/ my DH the cycle following her HSG, so I think there is some truth behind the "extra fertile" thing. :)

I am so happy to hear this good news!

I have been praying for all of you ladies out in the blogosphere who carry the cross of infertility (including you!). This is an answer to prayer, I believe. Now I will be checking your blog for that BFP!

Glad your HSG came back good. If we're not pg this cycle, I'll be going in for HSG next week. Good to hear you had a good exprience... makes me a bit less scared.

My doc said that he's seen a lot of cases of women getting pg the first cycle after the test b/c of the cleansed tubes. GL!

I had to look up what HSG stood for and then realized that I've had one of those :)

I've also had a HSG and it was painfree. Congrat's to you. Sadly my HSG showed my left tube was blocked. I went to Clear Passage Therapy to get it open naturally, and now I am going again for my HSG...pray for me everyone!!
