Baby Shower #1...

Yesterday I had my first baby shower, thrown by my best friend Lindsay and her mother Linda, who did the most wonderful job! It was absolutely fantastic. I had such a lovely time and it was so nice seeing all my closest girlfriends, many whom I haven't seen in ages due to my insane work schedule. I just had the best time and received the most beautiful gifts. Lucy is going to be one fashionable girl because my friends have fabulous taste!

Here is me and the amazing Lindsay! Thanks Linds, you are the GREATEST! (Please excuse the small pictures, I had to copy them off of Shutterfly until I get the originals downloaded on my computer)

(Slidshow to follow if I can figure out how to embed it in my blog. I've tried two different slideshow websites and put in the code and nothing. ARGH! Can anyone help?)

And now for some miscellaneous odds and ends...I'm still working on getting Lucy's room ready. While I was having a fab time at my shower, Rob was working hard on Lucy's closet. He did such an amazing job and it was all finished as a surprise for me when I got home. I spent the day today organizing all Lucy's things in the closet. Picture to follow soon once I touch up the paint a bit.

I still haven't picked out a crib. I just cannot find one I like. It is impossible. Below are two options. Please help a girl out and vote!

Option #1

Option #2

Please vote on the poll on your right!

Here is the bedding that my mother-in-law has so generously bought us:

I just love it and have decided to purchase this wall stickie from etsy.com to match with the birds on the bedding:

What's kind of funny about the wall stickie is that I was showing a different one to Rob online and he pointed out, "Why didn't you pick this one?" and pointed to one with the bird that were flying out of the cage (the one above) instead of IN the cage, (which is what the first one was), he knows me so well, I hate the idea of birds in cages, so this one is perfect!!
That's about it for now!

Where are the cribs from/would you mind sharing the price point? I love the first one!

Sure thing!

The first one is from Albeebaby.com, Baby Miro by DaVinci, and it is $356.00 and Albee has free shipping over $100 right now so shipping would be free.

The second one is from Walmart, Baby Mod Olivia, and it is $299.00+ shipping. It just recently became available again, it sells out really quickly, so I need to make my decision soon!

I love the first crib...option 1.

I really love the crib that the bedding is in...but I know that was not the choice to vote on.

Okay- I'm making your gift tomorrow night. I'll try to mail it to you this week so you can add it to your shower stuff.

I can't believe you're going to be a mommy in almost no time at all!! I'm so excited for you!!

I like crib #2. I think the color is more feminine and really compliments the beautiful bedding. Where was that from? I need to bookmark that for the day I have a child! Gorgeous. I love the wall art too. Very cute!

Hmm, did you try Slide.com? I just posted one in my blog and all I did was paste the code as regular text, like a normal blog, and it showed up.

I like both cribs, but noticed neither had the bumper ties going around the corners-- I would just be sure that the ties are long enough to get them around the corners before buying! (I'm assuming you're using the bumper in the bedding set? Which, btw, is VERY cute!)

Just a tip.... :)

I picked choice #1 for the bed. My only tip would be to make sure the crib can convert into a todler bed (you may have already picked out cribs that do this, but I can't tell from the pics). This will allow you to use the crib/bed a LOT longer.

I like the second crib. It reminds me of this one, which I love, but yours is much more reasonably priced: http://www.giggle.com/p/15183/c/558/cl/570/Classic-Crib.aspx

I think the white would look perfect with your colorful bedding.

I like the dark crib as well. HOWEVER, some moms have told me that the dark finishes on cribs are not a good choice because some older babies will gnaw on the slats and the nicks and dents show a lot more on dark rather than light.

I like the white. The brown seems a little prisony for some odd reason!

That bedding is super cute--you have great taste! I'm glad your shower went well. I like the second crib.

$356 for a crib?! Are you kidding me? Why not just put your baby in a drawer...it's free and then you can donate the money to charity. Sheesh! Just joking!!! :- ) I couldn't resist after you got that weird comment about your diaper bag. LOL. Seriously, I LOVE both cribs...but I like Option #1 best...which is what I voted for. I also LOVE the wall stickies!

I can't wait to see pics of the closet...I'm trying desperately to figure out how to design our closet to make it functional. And I'm trying to decide if we should paint the nursery. So many decisions, so little time...

That's funny - that's the bedding I was looking at for if we have a girl :) I love Pottery Barn Kids!

The shower was fun - can't wait to meet Lucy!

www.onetruemedia.com works great for posting slide shows. A tip though is when you are pasting the html text into your blog, switch to the HTML mode (it's a button on the right corner of the typing area) when you are in the regular mode it sometimes won't copy all of the html for some reason... hope that helps!

I love the darker crib. I also love the bedding you have picked out! It's so beautiful and feminine without being overly girly. Can you tell me where you got it, please? Thanks! :)

Even though it is a small pic...you look GREAT!

I like crib choice #1. I agree with another poster that you should be sure that it coverts to a toddler bed.

Love the bedding & wall stickies too. Lucy's room is going to be so beautiful!

I think someone asked...the bedding is Pottery Barn Kids "Brooke". My MIL is getting it for us but I actually saw a 5 piece set on ebay for quite a deal! Just FYI! ;)

I'm having a fun giveaway for a great cause on my blog. 4 (maybe 5) bed nets will be going to kids in Africa to prevent malaria and one (maybe 2) t-shirts will be given to the blog reader(s) that are picked. Come leave a comment before 7pm CST and enter to win! (And learn about malaria too!)

The Etsy shop with the sticker is:

But if you Etsy search bird stickie or bird wall decal it'll come up with some other ones too!

Hey! I voted on your crib poll. Good luck with your decision! Lucy won't care, so pick what you really love. :)

Glad you liked your shower, it was nice of Lindsay to host it. I'll get your quilt back to you soon.

I'm a lurker but I wanted to tell you that I have the Baby Mod Olivia crib and I love it!! I also ordered decals from etsy (which might have been from the same person b/c yours look familiar). I bought them from Single Stone. Here is a link to look at the crib in our nursery:

I would suggest you look at convertible cribs. We have a white one (Olivia?) from JCPenny. It was a little more, but I loved the style and it will be her bed forever. It converts from a crib to toddler bed to full bed.

I LOVE that bedding and the wall sticky. Lucy will have a beautiful room.

yay for showers! I am a white crib person. that way you don't have to worry about the stain colors of the other furniture you get.

I used the photobucket's slideshow and it works in my Blogger blog great! totally recommend it!

post pics of the nursery when you can!

I have to know where you got your dress!
The room decor is adorable,I love that the birds are flying free.

Great choices! I picked the first one because it's the one I have, and while I haven't put it together yet, I'm really happy with the quality. I got it from Babycentre (for about $310 due to some sales and free shipping) and had to get two parts replaced. One was damaged in shipping, the other during assembly. I got the pieces very quickly.

My friend has the second one and I really like it too. It is a very sturdy, high quality crib. The white just didn't work in our room.

I gave you an award on my blog.

I can tell you that I ordered Option number 2, the Olivia crib a month or so ago. I LOVE it. I'm due the same day as you, so I haven't put a baby in it yet, but I absolutely love it..the height, the ease of chaning a crib sheet, etc. It was VERY easy to put together and very sturdy. Good luck.

Congrats on your first shower - I can't wait for mine this weekend! I love the bedding and the darker colored crib because then the bedding will stand out more. White on white tends to go un-noticed.

Good luck with the room!

PS where did you get your blogger layout? I love it and want a new one but don't know how to do it! TIA!

You look great!! I can't believe how far along you are!!

I'm not sure if you will remember me from the nest or not, when you were on clomid and had those intense cramps, I told you about my best-friend who had a similar experience to you and got all those cysts. Anyway, after 2 years and 3 months, she is FINALLY pregnant. I'm so happy, I had to share. You know what worked for her? Acupuncture and a gluten free diet- 2 cycles! Go figure!
