39 Weeks and Waiting...

No Lucy yet! Although, (TMI warning here) I do think I may be losing my mucous plug. Yum! Rob and I walked today around the local library grounds, but still no contractions (as far as I know). I basically spent the entire walk talking about every single little thing I am fretting about: how I'm worried the epi won't take, that I'll tear something terrible, that I won't be a good mother, that I'll suck at breastfeeding, that my dogs will feel neglected, that I won't want to return to work in April, that Lucy won't like me when she's 15... I just went on and on. Rob just spent the whole time telling me that everything would be fine, of course! I'm just so nervous not knowing when this is going to happen. This is almost worse than my last two week wait... I said almost because that was absolute torture!

So, here I am in all my completely 39 week pregnant glory (ha, ha...right). This may be the last photo of me pregnant with Lucy! Who knows?

Final pictures of Lucy's room, I finally got the rocking chair from my mom's house, put up some sheer curtains and added a lamp. I really like how it turned out and feel like the pictures just don't do it justice because it looks so much better in real life. I think Lucy will love it!

And, just for fun some pictures of the crazy snow we had over the past couple weeks...or as our newscasters liked to call it "ARTIC BLAST"!

So I'm sitting here, wide awake, after nursing my 9-day-old son. And I almost woke him up after reading this: "that I'll suck at breastfeeding" tee hee! Suck! At breastfeeding! Lololol.

Best wishes for your upcoming labor and delivery! You'll be GREAT!

If your epi doesn't take, you'll still be ok. And if you tear, you will heal. I had a 2nd degree tear and I'm already feeling back to normal (almost).

You will be a fabulous mother.

Your dogs will be fine.

And if your daughter doesn't like you when she's 15, it means you're doing your job :)

Yeah, the mucos plug....just FABULOUS! LOL You know when you are starting to loose it. I described it as the most disguting thing that I have ever seen come out of me! I started to loose mine and 39 weeks as well. You look great, Lucy's room looks amazing and all your thoughts are completely normal. You are going to be a great mom.

Lots of luck to you and hopefully your next blog entry will include pictures of your beautiful baby girl :)

Oh my...I'm SO EXCITED for you!! I remember feeling just the way you did like it was yesterday (and here I sit over 3 years later)!!

I am praying that Lucy makes a safe and speedy entrance into the world and that things go according to your plan for you.

Her nursery is BEAUTIFUL and you and hubby did a wonderful job making it a special place for her!

Sounds like you're hanging in there! I don't know about the mucous plug as I never officially went into labor, but I've heard that it's kind of gross. The room looks wonderful...she'll love it even if she barely remembers it at 15 when she's hating you! Oh...take the good times when you have them, right?

I was due January 3 and had my sweet baby girl on December 15. I never lost my mucous plug (that I know), but I did go into labor - trust me....you will KNOW contractions! I was like you and thought, I don't "think" I've felt any...

Best wishes! I'm sure she'll be with you soon!

Lucy's room looks adorable! She'll love it, I'm sure.

And I think she is must be waiting for all the snow to melt. At least, I think that's what my new nephew was waiting for because he arrived precisely after the roads were (finally) plowed.

oooh i am sooo excited for you! i keep checking back for the post saying she has arrived!

she will be with you soon! you two are going to be wonderful parents, no worries!!!!

I had the same worries too. The funny thing about 9 months of pregnancy is worry. Once you have a baby, it doesn't go away, it just morphs itself into other worries like; is the baby getting enough food, is he/she warm enough, is he/she hitting the normal milestones etc... I can only say that when you worry, you know that you will be a good mom because you obviously care. As far as breastfeeding may I recommend a couple of readings? "The Nursing Mother's Companion" by Kathleen Higgins and for fun "So That's What They're For" (the author's name escapes me). The last of the two was really funny. My advice: every day in the hospital take advantage of the Lactation nurses, they helped to ground me when I felt like I couldn't do it. Good luck for a healthy delivery and congrats! Kim

Any day now....especially now that you're losing your plug! Great sign!!!

You'll be a great mom, labor will be fine and the epi WILL take! All of your fears are normal. I'm having them, too! It's great that your hubby listens and encourages you. And your dogs will be fine. :- ) Breath....

Lucy's nursery is adorable. She's going to love it! You did a great job!

awww her room is so pretty. You'll love spending time in there.

Miss Amelia Jane. said...

Her room is adorable Bev! And all of your worries, totally normal of course. It's the unpredictable! And everyone has their own labor story, soon you'll have yours!

I was really worried my dog would not only hate us, but come to resent Miss Amelia because of all the attention she got. My husband got a book on babies and dogs (to distract him from all of my baby talk?) They recommended wrapping baby (Lucy) in a blanket, and taking it home and introducing it to the doggy before baby comes home. That way doggy isn't shocked by her scent when she comes home. I have a 3 year old German Shepard, and he loves Miss Amelia so much and comes and whines to us when she's crying on the monitor.

Kacie said all of it best. The epi will take (and let me tell you, is a God send), tears heal and they make stiches for a reason, breastfeeding will work and if it doesn't, she'll thrive. (My milk never came in so I never got to breastfeed. Amelia is over 55% in weight and smart as a button!) Can't wait to hear your birth story! It's been fun to reconnect with you again! Def. different from our Z100 days!

Baby room looks lovely! I still have all the decorating in front of me, still got a few months to get it all ready ;)

Looks like you've got as much snow around as we do here too, in South-Western Canada... a big of a pain in a way, but it looks beautiful!

Best wishes for a quick and easy delivery with Lucy!!!!

You will be a great mom! Ironic I just downloaded that John mayer song to my ipod! I will pray your epidural takes! Best wishes hope you have an excellent L&D experience! P.S. Its okay to feel happy AND terrified the first time you see your baby!

God I remember "the wait" at the end and it is pure torture! She'll be here before you know it though.. and you are right, your world will change and you won't know how you lived in a world that didn't have Lucy ;)

Ditto what Kacie said about you doing your job if your daughter doesn't like you at age 15. I didn't care much for my mom back then and now she is one of my best friends.
As for the tearing, it does heal. I had a 3rd degree tear, and the pain combined with the first week home, the baby staying up all night and sleeping all day (meaning I had to sit on my bruised rump for 4-6 hours at night), and my utter insecurity at not being a good mommy really made me feel like I was going to die. But each day got a little better than the last, and now I have a beautiful 6-month-old daughter who spends her days laughing and smiling at me.
You won't want to go back to work, but when/if you do, every day will be a little easier and you will learn to cherish every second you have with Lucy.
I can't wait until you get to experience all of that too! I will be checking your blog with great anticipation!!

So, I have never posted on your blog...but this time I cannot resist!! GOOD LUCK!!! You have come such a long way....and you will meet your daughter and your life will never be the same. It is so amazing and I am so happy for you that you are about to experience childbirth....there is nothing better. Just remember to breath deep. You will never experience the birth of your first baby ever again, so no matter what....enjoy this human experience....!!
PS: Your dogs love you unconditionally they will love her and understand the change coming their way...a walk or two hear and there, some love and pats on the head...its all they need.
Breastfeeding may come natural, it may be difficult...but it is not impossible...you will do great...stay positive!!
God Bless :)

Hello! I haven't posted a comment before, since I'm fairly new to this blogging thing:-) But I have been lovin your blog! And im hoping that the reason there hasnt been a new entry in a few days is because, you're having miss Lucy!!!! How exciting :-) Good luck with everything!!

Happy due date! I hope you're out having Miss Lucy right now. Once you go into labor you'll be concentrating on that and not worrying about the other things. You guys are going to make great parents. You worked so hard for your baby, how could she not be absolutely loved? And in the end if you do things out of love, it'll all work out.

You're due today, and I'm just wondering how things are going! Hopefully little Lucy makes her way soon with a smooth delivery! Congratulations!

I'm another who's been silently reading since before Lucy was announced.

The other posters were spot on. The birth, the baby, the dogs, the going back to work -- it's all going to be fine. Worry away (I did, to pass the time), but know this: it's all worth it. All of it. Probably even the 14-year-old kid drama, though as the mother of a 7-month-old I can't confirm that part.

And because I've not said it before -- I love your baby's name. It's our next baby's name, should we be so lucky and should we have a girl. :)

Best wishes.

Also, there has not been a post in a few days... I hope that means miss Lucy is here!!
