Whiner...

WARNING: I am going to proceed to whine.

I feel like the biggest whiner ever but honestly, pregnancy is not gentle with me. At this point, I would do just about anything, (besides being un-pregnant), to make this headache go away. Stand on my head? I'll do it. Bury a cows horn at midnight? No prob. Shave my cat Peanut? Done. Sell my firstborn? No way. Carry on headache. Ha.

I have officially this headache from hell for 5 days straight. I cannot function, I cannot eat without feeling sick from the headache, I cannot sleep from the headache, I cannot concentrate on work. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, I'm really not, but this headache is serious. Maybe that is why it took us so long, maybe it was God's way of saying, "Are you sure...no, but seriously, are you REALLY sure? Because this is NOT going to be smooth sailing. You're sure then? Ok, well...don't say I didn't warn you!"

NOTE: Very important: I am, of course, still obscenely, crazily and supremely happy for our Baby M coming in January, I just wish pregnancy didn't mean me hiding from the light like a vampire (damn light sensitivity) or throwing up in the middle of a restaurant (nausea from the headache) or having to shove my fingers into my eye sockets at work in an attempt to numb the pain. I just wish there was SOMETHING that might make it at least bearable. According to the doctor I can try acupuncture and that's about it since Tylenol does absolutely nothing, so I'm trying to get an appointment ASAP.

This is also the reason for my lack of blogging. The computer screen is basically my worst enemy to my headache, aside from natural light, so since I stare at it all day I try and stay away. I'm sorry for the whining, but I would be lying on my blog if I wrote that I feel like sunshine and roses right now. I honestly want a record of everything, even the not so fun times, so here it is, honest to blog.

In happier news everything came out great with the bloodwork from Baby M's NT scan. YAY! I have scheduled the BIG US for AUGUST 6th. We're so excited to find out. We CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

Here is my quickly taken Week 15 shot. I made Rob do it even though I felt like absolute crap and just wanted to lay with my head on the cold bathroom floor (note the sunglasses, I just could not take them off). Damnit, I'm going to have these pictures, whether my head likes it or not!

And a just for fun picture of Rob and I at the St. Paul Rodeo over 4th of July weekend. His mom gave him this cowboy hat when he moved out to Oregon (she apparently thinks that is what we wear our here) and it was the first time in 4 years he got to wear it!

"Would you like some cheese with that whine?"
-Unknown

ps. Mmmmm.... cheese. Must go find some.

You are allowed to complain and nobody will think any less of you. I am totally happy too but hey I have moments that I am looking for a plastic bag to take with me just in case I loose it. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry about the headache -- I've had a few of those and they are just awful. I'm sure you've tried everything, but for me I found that a little bit of caffeine (even just a sip or two of coke!) really helped. Now if I feel a headache coming on, I have a little coke. I hope you feel better soon!

On the bright side, you look adorable! I'm glad everything went ok with the NT scan!

Ugh, I remember those times. I promise it'll get better soon! And you two are such a gorgeous couple -- you are going to have such a beautiful little baby!

Hopefully they'll go away soon. With both of my pregnancies, I got headaches 14-15 weeks pg, but they went away after that. I know it doesn't make it better - but hopefully soon!

Delurking here...great blog! I too had horrible migraines during pregnancy despite never even really having a headache before. This may sound nutty, but I got a cranio-sacral treatment and they went away. Won't go into what that is--you can Google it--but man it made a HUGE difference and I loved the process--very relaxing. I wish I had gotten more because once the baby arrives it's hard to find time for such luxuries!

Whine away! I wish I could have your headache... along with a pregnancy =(
I think we all understand that even though being pregnant is not something you would trade for the world, you can definitely do without the headache. Hope you feel better soon darling!

Glad the NT scan went well, can't wait for the big u/s and how adorable you look!!!! =)

I am so sorry for your headaches. I get very bad ones too. What helps me the most is going to my chiropractor and she cracks my neck. It helps them a lot and it is safe during pregnancy . I am not a big fan of needles, so I would not do acupuncture. Hope that helps.

Love your weekly pictures!

I am prone to migraines so I understand how bad headaches are that last all week. It wrecks every aspect of your life. And even your complaining shows your sweetness. It will get better. Repeat that as you bury your head under your pillow.

Thinking about you.

Peppermint Oil works great. Rub it behind your ears, at the base of your neck, on your temples, and under your tongue.

I hope your headache goes away soon, or that at the very least, accupuncture helps take some of it away.

Gosh, I am so sorry for your pain! It sounds horrible, and I hope it resolves very soon, by whatever means. You have every right to whine! I'll be hoping for some relief for you!

I hope you feel better, maybe the acupuncture will help. :-)

You look great in your photos, even with the sunglasses!

I'm a lifelong migraine sufferer, so I feel your pain. They were so much worse until about halfway through 2nd tri. (mostly because I couldn't take ANY of my normal meds!!)

I highly recommend some caffeine when you take tylenol...for me it made all the difference in the world. My MW also recommended seeing a chiropractor. It was a HUGE help. Although some would be uncomfortable with it (and I would totally understand why you would be), she also ok'd vicodin for when it just wouldn't go away.

So sorry about your headaches. I have migraine disorder too, and it was worse during pregnancy. You mentioned cheese. Sometimes that is a migraine trigger, as are chocolate and msg, for me. I hope that they end soon or immediately would be better. You and your dh are absolutely adorable.

Gr8 pics. Sorry abt the headaches. I have migraines big time so I know what you are going through. Sometimes herbal teas with ginger helps and they dont have caffeine for its ok to take those.

My headaches were not nearly as bad as what you're describing but I would use a sachet bag with lavender over my eyes (in the dark with no noise) it helped me... heck if it even takes the edge off your headaches that would be something. Good luck!

I also had horrible migraines, which started right at the beginning of my second trimester. They went away after 3-4 weeks, and now I only get one every 2-3 weeks, lasting only a few hours, which is a HUGE improvement. A few things that helped me:

1. cold wet compress on my forehead and neck.

2. pulling/tugging on the hair right above the pain

3. having someone else apply a huge amount of pressure at the back of the neck, right where it hits your skull.

Good luck!

Came over from L & F...I sympathize. I had gnarly headaches the 1st and 2nd tri. I took Tylenol daily, and spent a lot of times in dark rooms.

I was a migraine suffere pre-pregnancy, and I got them through about week 18 or so, so I understand and sympathize with your pain. Be sure to talk to your dr. After week 12, mine gave me Fioricet. I only had to take one dose, one time, and my headaches have never come back. I'm not sure if it just broke the cycle or what, but it might be worth asking. In the meantime, try washing your tylenol down with coke, and try ice packs--those helped me a little. I hope that they go away for you soon!

I have a friend that said accu was the ONLY things that helped with her headaches during pregnancy. Good Luck!

Complain away - we are always here to listen! I hope you are feeling better soon and I'm sorry about the terrible headache. Yuck, it sounds miserable! Cheese, yes I had grilled cheese with tomato for dinner tonight (again).

I agree with baby and me, you're allowed to complain! You don't have to feel guilty because you don't absolutely love being pregnant every second of the day! I hate being pregnant, I think it's horrid and it was horrible to me, but I love my 3 babies more than anything in the world. It doesn't mean you love them less if you just say "Screw it all, I hate this and I just can't wait until January to meet this baby!" :-)

You're pregnant, you get the right to complain whenever you want. :o) The headaches are horrible...check with your doc if you can see physical therapy for it - I know a lot that are headache specialists and it can definitely help!

I got a few nasty headaches during pregnancy as well, the kind that just laugh at Tylenol. The one thing that helped somewhat, along with burrowing under the covers in a dark room, was caffeine. Soda works in a pinch, but I found a bit of espresso was the most effective. Though you don't want to load up on caffeine during pregnancy, my doc said the occasional dose for headaches is fine - and better than the stronger meds that you aren't supposed to take.

I've been reading but this is my 1st time commenting. Just wanted to commiserate since I'm in the same boat. I'm extremely grateful to be pregnant, but went from morning sickness ruling my life to these terrible headaches. I'll be hoping for both of us that they end soon. Very cute belly shots!

Hi! I've been reading you for awhile but never commented. I'm sure you've tried it but the only thing that works on my bad headaches is to have my hands massaged, hard, right between the thumb and index finger.

DANG! 28 comments already? You are one loved girl. Sorry bout the headaches girlie! I wish I had a trick. Marlo had heartburn and would drink a glass of milk before bedtime and that helped that, but I can't think of anything for headaches. :( I love the pictures though. So cute!

There is nothing worse than the unending headache. I hope you feel better.

On an unrelated note, we too have a cat named Peanut (who would look absolutely obscenely hilarious if shaved).

Acupuncture will help...LOTS! Also try placing bags of cold water & ice on your head and back of the neck. It doesn't get rid of it, but eases the intensity making life bearable.

I had them from week 12-15 almost non-stop. Thankfully, they have disappeared.

Good luck!

I've been reading about your headaches. Are you staying well, well, well (and I mean really, really well) hydrated? That was the only thing that did it for me. Like tons of water. See if that maybe can help you!

Hang in there girl! You're doing great. I think that pregnant women with mind altering headaches - or any other awful symptom, for that matter - have every right to whine. :)

By the way, your big U/S is scheduled on my 3 year wedding anniversary. That's got to be good luck!

Hugs to you from SC!
