Have a Happy WHAT?...

"Have a happy period."

Who came up with this gem of an advertising campaign? Whether you are TTC or not I know very few people who have "happy periods". If must have been a man. No woman would ever suggest that AF coming to visit it anything but a pain in the... well, you know. Sure, bleeding like a stuck pig while suffering through heinous cramps and biting my:: insert any person that might cross my path during this time::'s head off is a freaking lark. Dude, if I ever meet you I will punch you in the neck. No, I'm not kidding. Why all the anger? Oh... you know, it's that HAPPY time of the month. Idiot.

Note: There was a post about this on BOTB a couple months ago that was far funnier than my own. But I totally feel it every time I see that stupid commercial so I felt the need to write it out. Especially the punching the bigwig ad man in the neck part. That would be satisfying.

When you're TTC/T-TTC it is even worse. Every month when AF starts it is like a huge, blinking sign saying something to the effect of :

"YOU FAIL"

"DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT A BABY"

"TAKE THAT SUCKA".

Boo. I hate AF. It is NEVER a "Happy Period".

Where did you see that??

To be fair, for women who are NOT wanting to get PG a period can be a very happy occurrence, insuring that there's no baby on the way that month. And in some cultures periods are celebrated and looked upon as a great thing, as opposed to a pain in the... ; )

Marcy- It's an Always ad campaign with an irritating woman saying "Have a Happy Period. Always."

I'm thinking that most women, even the one who are NOT wanting to get pregnant, don't exactly love getting their period. I could be wrong but personally, I've never met anyone who has actually enjoyed it. I mean, it isn't the most comfortable time of the month, right? :)

I am not looking forward to menopause either. I had a taste of the hot flashes when I've been on Clomid and they NOT FUN either!

bev...I'm so sorry. I wrote that last comment. I feel awful. I'm having a really crappy day and for some stupid reason, I took it out on you. Please forgive me. I just have read a lot about the 'Have a Happy Period' slogan lately and I was tired of seeing it again. This is YOUR blog, and I have no right to negatively comment on your choice of topic. I'd feel better if you deleted that comment. Once again, I'm sorry. That is SO not me.

It's ok. I'm totally PMSing today. I knew full well that someone had written that on BOTB, but I just felt the exact same way after seeing the commercial when I started AF the other day.

I've actually never seen it on a blog, but someone posted a freaking hilarious open letter on BOTB. I remember it being really funny, but I don't remember exactly what it said so my blog might be more similar than I realized.

Anyways, don't worry about it. I jumped right on you too. ;)

It really does a number on me to get my period right now.. it makes me feel like I am never going to get a baby. What was worse was not having a period for a long time but not being pregnant either. I was happy to get a period but I didn't have a happy period. Seceretly, I hoped I would ovulate and get pregnant in that time period and go from being worried if I was going to get my period to happy I was pregnant. No such luck. Sorry you got your period.
